This to-be-star was born in USA on the 7th of October 1967. Her childhood passed in the place named Severn, Maryland. The girl's family was very pious. Particularly, her father was a follower of apostolic church. Toni Braxton spent a youth full of rather strict rules. One of the prohibitions was contemporary music and viewing TV set. Therefore she had to listen to her favorite records with the song of Stevie Wonder and Quincy Johns secretly. The girl adored Janet Jackson. One of her outlets and the way to express herself in someway was a chance to sing in a church choir. Later, this young singer together with her sisters created a home project named "The Braxtons". Because her father was dissatisfied with the project, the latter didn't last for long time. After the failure of "The Braxtons" the young vocalist was lucky to be noticed by "Arista Records" label. The company concluded a contract with Toni Braxton and organized the recording of the first single of the singer. This single, which she performed together with the project "Babyface" was named "Give You My Heart". Soon she presented the audience her second composition "Love Should Brought You Home" Her first full-grown studio album was released only in 1993 and was named "Toni Braxton". The disk had a great success and was sold in a quantity of 19 million copies. Commercial and creative work achievements of the beginning star critics marked with two "Grammy" awards. Thereafter she won two more awards "Soul Train Music Awards". The vocalist became the first in three nominations of "American Music Awards". In 1995 she led in the category of "Best Female R&B Vocal" on the regular "Grammy" ceremony. Afterwards she started working over her new disk "Secrets" that was released after some time. The album is especially interesting by its compositions that were made by Babyface, R.Kelly and Diane Warren. Her new work was released in the quantity of 5 million copies and got a warm welcome by critics and her admirers. And when the time came such hits as "Unbreak My Heart" and "You're Makin' Me High" won the cherished "Grammy" award. This good progress didn't guarantee that the singer will have a rest. Because of the conditions of her contracts she decided to be at law with companies "Arista" and "LaFace Records". This process as a result seriously hit her welfare and soon the artist was officially recognized a bankrupt. At the same time she was obliged to pay a million dollars debt. Toni Braxton acted in popular musical "Beauty and the Beast" and this role saved her. The fees she received from this show allowed her to become a person again. Because of the above mentioned events her new disk was released only in 2000. Then Braxton presented the audience her regular album named "The Heat". It was met rather well by the pop-music judges. Her composition "Spanish Guitar" was especially successful. Two years later she issued a striking single "Hit theway" and new album "More Than a Woman". At the Same time the singer managed to participate in the shooting of several films and also became a participant of show "Aida" that had a great success on Broadway. One of her last works is the disk "Libra". The balance in this album is felt in everything. It contains several dance compositions and several ballads and besides the artist is Libra by Zodiac. Her admirers liked the record, although in comparison with her first records this album was sold worse and in fewer of copies.
