Description "Spice Girls" is a pop group from Great Britain. This project in 90s won not only European countries, but also the entire planet. The disks were distributed in the quantity of fifty million copies. The group's admirers simply went mad. No one has ever seen anything like this from the times of "Beatles". Yet in year 1993, nothing has foretoken that the World can be conquered by several girls. The point is that, in pop music the most popular projects were only the pure men's projects such as "East 17" and "Take That". Bob and Chris Herberts decided to change the situation and attempted to make a project that would include only girls. Critics predicted a total failure to this plan. They thought that a group consisting of attractive boys would have much more admirers. In spring 1993 Herberts placed in one of the editions a small announcement about casting in project. Around seven hundred girls came to pass through the casting to become stars. As a result the group received the following members: Melanie Chisholm, Victoria Adams, Melanie Brown, and Michelle Stevenson. The fifth member was Geri Halliwell who didn't take part in general review, but nevertheless perfectly passed the final check. The project was named "Touch". The girls were very independent. From the very beginning the girls argued with the producers that created the project about what and how they should sing and move while singing. After seven months, Michelle left the group. The vacant place was occupied by Abigail Kis, but for very short time – only for 30 days. Then after choosing between love and creative work she selected love. Thus, one place was still vacant. The teacher of vocal thought that his former pupil would be a nice applicant. In former times he was surprised by her talent. Thus Emma Lee became the fifth member of the project and she was seventeen years at that time. Once, in 1994, Jerry and Melanie suddenly thought of calling their project "Spice". No one has something against this. However, a little research showed that the project with the same name already existed in Great Britain. Then the girls just made a new name longer by calling it "Spice girls" These five girls didn't manage to get rid of the arguments with their producers and then they got rid of… their producers! They set their independent sail. They took a small floorspace for all of them at once and constantly rehearsed and composed songs. This project awoke interest in already popular Simon Fuller. Literally in six months, on the last summer month of the year 1995, Simon concluded a contract for the girls with "Virgin Records" to release the album and distribute it all around the world. The first summer month of the year 1996 brought good news – the clip of the group named "Wannabe" was taken to the British MTV. The audience was fascinated and wanted to know who these charming soloists were. The next month the single was released and instantly hit the first line of chart. It has held this position for seven weeks! Years went by. The fame of the girls was simply striking. The group's singles still took the first places in charts on both sides of the ocean. The group was filmed. The girls managed to meet Nelson Mandela on their guest tour to South Africa, to perform on the holiday of Prince Charles, and get a great number of awards.
