Description

Sony Ericsson Aino The Sony Ericsson Aino offers a unique feature: you can connect to your PS3 with it. The idea is to bring all of Sony’s brands together into one tasty package but it’s not like you’ll be playing games on it so don’t jump out of your shorts just yet. There’s an 8GB memory card inside, BBC iPlayer support for those in Britain and a standard interface. The phone slides open to reveal the keys and it feels good. The screen is bright and highly functional.

Caller lists are laid out in a simple and straightforward manner. Input the person’s name and their number will pop up. You can also scroll alphabetically. Adding a contact is easy and you can group people into the premade groups they’ve given you or make your own. You can even do a video call, although you won’t be showing yourself since the camera is not front facing. It’s for showing a friend something you’re looking at. Calls are crisp and clear.

They’ve kept the messaging experience simple (this is a simple phone, obviously). You can send a typical SMS message or with the flick of a button change it to an MMS message and send a picture, animation, or sound to spice up your message. From within the messaging menu you can get right to Facebook and chat with your friends. Email support is included but if you’re on a Gmail or Yahoo Mail account it can be a pain. Getting online is easy and the display looks fairly good. The options are limited because it’s a simple phone but it looks good and it’s not terribly frustrating.

The camera is one of the most impressive features. At 8.1 megapixels it takes really high quality shots and there are many features that help you create great pictures. They include a touchscreen focus mode so you can have the camera focus on what you’ve touched. It takes a long time to save each photo, which proves to be annoying. There’s a flash included. Listening to music is fantastic on the Sony Ericsson Aino and you can do so when it’s open or shut. The video player is a little worse off because the screen is low resolution. They don’t look great and many of your movies simply won’t play. You can connect to your PS3 and play any movies or music you might have stored on there. There are a fair number of applications available and they will enhance the phone even further.
