The main merit made by Serj Tankian was the foundation of famous rock group System of a Down. The band consists of musicians that were studying in the same Armenian musical school in Los Angeles. The first solo album of Serj Tankian was released in 2007. He organized a whole tour in support of debut album. In 2010 he released the first song recorded with Symphony Orchestra.
