Description
Samsung with a great mid-range model. The U800 maybe a bit of a copy cat of the Nokia 6500 Classic but with we think this is the better of the two. Just like the Nokia 6500 it is ultra-slim, 3G friendly and shares the classic shape design. They both have the same high resolution screens capable of 240 x 320pixels and 16million colors and very similar keypads. You can start to notice differences in the color choices with the Samsung coming in both pink and silver. Another key difference is the added front mount camera for video calls that is not available for the Nokia counterpart.
When you go down the feature list on both the Nokia and the Samsung, the Samsung wins again. Not only the front mount camera but also the fairly powerful 3.0 megapixel main camera with a LED Flash is a big difference from the Nokia model. This is not the best camera available on teh market by far but for the porice of the cell phone it is very capable. If you just need a camera while you are on the go you will not be disappointed. We found it does just fine for most social event type photos that you share with your friends by MMS and Online too. The main camera can also take videos in MPG4 format for easy sharing.
The U800 also has a music player that is sure to please. Like most players today it can read a variety of music formats such as MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and enhanced AAC+, as well as full Digital Rights Management. And much like most phones on the market today it does have a built in FM Radio in case you forgot to load your favorite tunes on to the memory. Speaking of memory this is a real trump card for the U800. It packs a whopping 1GB of built-in memory so you can store approximately 250 full size MP3s so you wont run out of music anytime soon. Should that not be enough for you, there is always the microSD memory slot available for even more storage space.
The features on the phone probably run better then Nokia as well in general and these include: email access, 3G network connection, document viewer, Java games and a voice memo recorder. You can connect in a variety of ways to the U800 as well with options such as Bluetooth and USB. The battery life is below average in the grand scheme of things but not too bad for an ultra slim phone and it beats the Nokia model.
Again this is a really nice mid-range phone that is superior to its look alike twin from Nokia. The Nokia and the U800 may share its good looks but the similarities end there. This is the superior choice between the two on multiple levels.
