 Samsung managed to produce the slimmest slide phone the world has ever seen with the U600. This ultra slim phone is an unbelievable 10.9mmm thick but still manages to be a fully functional high tech phone loaded with cool features. The phone is loaded with a 3 megapixel camera and a top notch music player that can easily replace your current one. The phone comes in a variety of colors to suit your personal style including: ark silver, red, pink, blue, chrome and black & gold.
After the over-whelming response to the Samsung D900 the designers at Samsung came back with the U600 and it has surpassed its predecessor in this next generation Ultra Phone. At just 10.9mm it was the slimmest slide phone on the market until the Samsung E840 was released later on. Not only did the phone get slimmer it also got a little skinnier width wise. With the over all size getting smaller the phone ended up about 10g lighter too and now you will hardly feel the phone in your hand. The U600 also looks much better then the D900 with the key difference being the fact that the standard navigation buttons have been changed to the new touch sensitive buttons that are a hit and miss with users. If you belong to the miss group then you should seek out the D900 or the new Samsung G600.
Once we get inside the phone users will notice that its not a lot different from the D900. The look and user ability are about the same as the older model but you will notice the camera has been upgraded .2 mega pixels to decent 3.2 mega pixel model. On the down side the memory is not where it was on the D900 but Samsung swears that with their new technology it will actually last longer but we couldn't get it to last longer then 2-3 days. One more downer on the U600 is the fact that built-in memory has been dropped from 70mb to 60mb not alot of difference but just enough to be annoying.
The U600 has an upgraded camera that is probably the best for Samsung in this mega pixel range. It's a fully featured 3.2 mega pixel camera that has an LED Flash with autofocus and digital zoom. Our tests did find that when you were taking pictures there seemed to be a lag of about 1-2 seconds. The screen is also decent for a mid range cell phone with 240 x 320 pixel resolution displaying 262,144 colors. There is the fully featured music player that does play all the normal music formats and like all Samsung phone it comes equipped with the Bang & Olufsen digital power amplifier and a loud speaker so there is no need for a headset. Should you want to listen in private you can use the included headset or Bluetooth headset. The onboard memory is 60mb and good for about 15 MP3 tracks so if you are serious about your music you can slide in a microSD card up to 2GB in size which will hold upto 100 songs.
The U600 can handle your email and all sorts of email attachments and has a document viewer for most common file types. To keep you connected you can use the EDGE connection for fast Internet downloads and not to mention it has a TV-Out connector so you can see all your photos on your TV if you like.
Overall this phone is a great looking ultra-slim phone for people that need a trendy phone.
