 The flagship cell phone from Samsung combines everything we like in cell phone design. The S8300 Tocco Ultra has both a full size touchscreen and a slide out keypad. Couple that with an 8 megapixel camera, class-leading OLED display, media player, GPS, Bluetooth, memory card slot and high-speed Internet and this mobile phone is about as good as it gets.
The Tocco Ultra is the latest in slide phone technology from Samsung that really shines. The screen itself is something new and shiny in itself, called the AMOLED or Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode is a first and it look great. The screen is a solid 240 x 400 pixels in high resolution graphics for your viewing pleasure. It's roughly 2.8 inches across which makes it a big slide phone screen or a smaller touchscreen by industry comparison. Yet when you combine the technologies its surely a winner. This phone really lets you have the best of both worlds in that you can do what you want on the touchscreen and all of its cool apps yet have the easy to use functionality of a real keypad.
Another thing that sets this flagship phone apart from the rest is the massive 8.0 megapixel camera which is top of the heap material. This camera really does it all from smile-detection autofocus, LED Flash, and even geo-targeting your photos with the on board GPS unit. You can also use the camera to record 3-fps video or make video calls. There is even built in video editing software to make your videos look great.
No flagship phone could be with out a media player and the S8300 supports all the normal music formats and can even play DivX & XviD movies. FM Radio is naturally included but for some reason no 3.5mm audio jack is built in so you will have to use the included headset of a bluetooth unit instead. On-board memory is pretty tight also at only 80mb but it does come with a microSD card slot that supports up to 16GB. The photo Geo-tagging feature is not the only use for the built-in GPS that allows you to map your location and find your way around on the streets.
The phone has plenty of connectivity options as you would expect from a cell phone lke this. You can connect using: Bluetooth, USB, EDGE and 7.2 Mbps HSDPA. Sadly the phine does not support Wi-Fi connections but it could have been a space issue since the phone is quite small. With only a thickness of 12.7mm its slightly thinner then the Samsung Soul.
Overall this phone really is one of the best phones on the market and the 8.0 megapixel camera just puts it over the top.
