 A great looking Samsung phone that is only available through Vodaphone. The Samsung Steel comes with 3.2 megapixel camera, music player, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and can handle up to 8Gb memory cards which should have everyone looking to Vodaphone next time they need a new phone. On the downside the battery doesn't last as long as we would like and the camera surprisingly does not have a Flash. But overall its a pretty good offering from Samsung.
While the phone looks like a million bucks on the outside it won't cost you anywhere near that mark. The Steel is an entry level phone and Vodaphone will give you one for when you sign up for one of their cell phone plans. This phone looks alot like the Samsung Soul but it does not have a touchscreen but it is a pretty nice little slide out keypad and a pretty large 2.2 inch wide screen.
For an entry level phone this one really shines. The high-speed Internet courtesy of the HSDPA 3G network really rocks for downloads speeds up to 7.2Mbps and the front facing camera makes video call possible. Add into the mix a 3.2 mega pixel main camera that is pretty good for its price point but unfortunately lacks a Flash for those night time pics. Like most phones today it has a music player able to play almost every common music format available today and also includes a FM Radio transmitter if you don't have your own tunes to play. The built-in memory is good for about your top 10 favorites tracks or 30MB so if you want to use this as your primary music player you should think about upgrading to the 8GB microSD card using the available slot.
Battery life is where this phone loses alot of fans. While Vodaphone says that you should be able to have it on standby for 23 days it seems that this was only a marketing gimmick that doesn't live up to its expectations. Most users report having to charge the phone every few days if they are using it at all.
Overall the phone looks high-end but definitely does not have the power to back it up. Having said that its an entry level priced phone that has many mid range features so if thats what you are after it could be a great buy.
