Description
If you like to take pictures with your cell phone then the Samsung Pixon M8800 is definetly for you. It comes equipped with a 8.0 megapixel camera and 3.2 inch touchscreen display and all the other high end features you could ever hope for. The only thing really missing on this phone is a WiFi connection to really make it one of the best all time. The phone is available in both Black and Pink depending on your personal style and tastes.
The Pixon is essentially an upgrade over the Samsung Tocco F480 and thats not a bad thing at all. It has an brilliant and vibrant touchscreen that spans nearly the entire front face and is displayed through 256k colors and 240 x 400 pixel resolution that shows the 8.0 megapixel pictures quite nicely.
With a name like Pixon its no wonder the 8.0 mega pixel camera is the center piece of this awesome phone. There are plenty of features that support the high resolution camera such as smile detection, face detection and a shake reduction program to make sure all your pics tune out as best as they can. To make sure all your pictures turn out there is even a double LED Flash that in not as good as a classic xenon flash but a close second. To top it all off you can record video with this bad boy at a frame rate of 120 fps which enables you to actually watch the movie in slow motion. For those into video calling will find that the second front-facing camera does the trick when coupled with the 3G network.
The large touchscreen makes using the interface a breeze and that is something that Samsung has been working at all year. The dividends are really paying off for their technology now and this is about as polished as any touchscreen we have seen so far. The screen is quite snappy to respond to your touch and the only complaint comes from hardcore text messagers who often find it hard to use the touch screens to type quickly. The rest of us will love the easy to use interface that covers the entire 3.2 inch screen.
Add to the mix a really nice music player that will play just about any music format and FM Radio with RDS which will keep you grooving all day long. You will have to use the supplied headset of bluetooth wireless headset since the phone does not have a 3.5mm standard audio jack but that is only a minor inconvenience. Onboard storage space is plentiful on the Pixon too with 200mb OF space available. This should store about 50 MP3 or more if you use a more compressed file format. One word of caution is to not fill it up all the way since the camera needs some storage for all those high-res photos. If you find that you need more space for all your stuff consider filling up the available microSD slot that supports up to 8GB cards.
As mentioned earlier the phone has a web-browser so you can access email and download stuff from the web using a 3G connection. The only real connection downer is the missing WiFi but with its massive 8.0 megapixel camera that missing feature is quickly forgotten about. Great phone for anyone that loves to take pictures and lots of them.
