Description During its original release the Samsung g800 was the first phone to have 5 megapixel camera with optical zoom. The phone looks great and is loaded with man good features such as music player, High Speed 3G Internet and 160MB of built in memory.
The g800 came out about the same tie as the iPhone and it made a splash during that time with the amazing new 5 megapixel camera. Now that we have 8 megapixel cameras on the market this phone is no longer top dog but that doesn't mean that its not worthy. This is still a top notch phone what at one point was the most advanced phone available on the market.
The camera was the crowning achievement of the g800 as it was the first to have optical zoom on a 5 megapixel camera. That is very significant if you compare that most other players in the camera phone market still only have digital zoom. The g800 also offers face detection and Wide Dynamic Range to complement its optics making for one heck of a photo. One thing to keep in mind on this and any Samsung camera phone is to make sure that your settings are correct. By default the g800 comes with the camera set to low image quality and users are experiencing bad photos. You will have to set it to high resolution if you really want to see what the fuss is all about with this one.
The phone also looks just great. It has nice lines and a big bright screen that is all finished off in its polished steel look. The phone catches your eye right away and keeps your attention. The phone may appear a little thicker then you would like but any bad thoughts will immediately disappear the first time you see how well it fits in your hand while taking photos or using it. While in camera mode you will be surprised just how much it looks and functions like a stand alone. Even the on screen user interface is the same as most standalone cameras on the market today.
There is plenty more to like here with a music player that plays just about anything and a FM Radio too. The G800 has a decent amount of on board memory with 160MB and you can upgrade with the use of a microSD card to pack all your music and photos in. The phone offers a variety of ways to connect including Bluetooth, USB and even TV-Out. The phone even boasts 3G network connectivity for quick downloads using the web browser. Your mobile office can handle all your emails and common document types so you are always in touch.
When this camera first launched it was a trend setting camera and even now not much has changed. An excellent offering from Samsung that should not be over looked.
