Description

Roger Waters, Syd Barrette and David Gilmour resided in Cambridge and studied in one educational institution. The idea to devote them to music together came when they yet studied in school.
For some time the friends were separated from each other because Syd and David went to get an education in London Arts School. Roger Waters selected the speciality related to technics. True, he devoted his spare time to music. While studying he formed his own group "Sigma 6".
Initially besides Roger "Sigma 6" included Richard Wright (keyboard instruments), Nick Mason (percussion instruments), Clive Metkalf (bass) and Juliet Gale (vocals). True, Gale didn't stay for a long time. Metkalf also left the collective. His bass guitar passed to Roger Waters. Soon the group received a new member – Brian Close.
This alliance had a strange destiny. The members of the team performed actively but obtain no fame. At the same time they often changed the name of the group. Soon "Sigma 6" turned to "Abdabs". The tension rose up. Roger Waters decided to invite to join his old friend Syd Barrett. Syd admited his invitation, but soon leaved the group. In 1965 a scandal flared up between Barrette and Close. Then Roger Waters made his mind to dismiss "Abdabs". Soon he created a new collective together with Barrette, Mason and Wright. Their small creative collective was named "Pink Floyd Sound". This was a distinctive tribute to Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.
The music psychedelic of Barrette was perfectly supplemented by unique lyrics of Waters. Thus a debut album of "Pink Floyd" called "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" appeared. The record instantly became popular both in the USA and in Europe. Many people called this work as a new word in the world of rock music. It came from a rather interesting style, so-called "cosmic" sound filled with the cry of the solo guitar.
Most melodies from this record were composed by Syd Barrette. True, his frequently strengthened his talent with the help of LSD. As a result, he got hooked on drugs very strong. So strong that he could not normally perform on concerts.
Being incapable of managing the given addiction Barrette leaves the group. True, instead of himself he offers his friend David Gilmore. The newly formed group records its second album - "A Saucerful Of Secrets". Despite of Syd's absence the sound on the record becomes more perfect.
The real fame came to "Pink Floyd" after the year 1970. The disks came one after another - "Atom Heart Mother", "Meddle", "Dark Side Of The Moon","Wish You Were Here", "Animals". The distinctive peak of their creative work became their legendary double album named "The Wall". It brought the group world popularity and an eminent place on the pages of the history of rock music.
True, after issuing "The wall" the group started fevering. Wright and Golmore started their solo projects. At the same time they both use the bases of "Pink Floyd's" groundwork. This fact offended Waters who was an author of most songs of the team and conflicts in the team arose.
Wright was first leaved "Pink Floyd". He was temporarily substituted by the producer of the collective named Bob Azrin. The inner difficulties and the retirement of Wright seriously affect the quality of a new album "The Final Cut". In comparison with the past work of the team it seems frankly weak.
Roger Waters didn't like the situation with the group and therefore he declared the collapse of "Pink Floyd" and starts other projects. But Gilmore and Mason did not agree with him.
They decided that they can do without Waters and revived "Pink Floyd". Wright returned to the group and a new bassist Toni Levin. Together they release a nice album "A momentary Lapse of Reason" In 1994 they manage to produce a really nice album. Their work "The Division Bell" resembles a classic record "Wish You Were Here" and makes a huge army of "Pink Floyd" admirers happy.
After this small victory the group left for the world tour and released a concert disk "Pulse"
