Description
The N73 is a updated version of the N70 that sees the addition of a better camera, music player, video calling and more memory space for all your stuff. The 3G smartphone is definitely a great Nokia phone that has all the high-end specs and the bugs of the early release have all been fixed. The design is simple using a familiar box design and keypad that is much like N70. Down side is the size of the keys on N73 which make it difficult to use if you happen to have larger fingers. Making up for it is the large 240 x 320 pixel and 262,000 color display that is tops of its class and a large improvement over the N70.
Not only has the display moved up a notch the camera is superior to its predecessor too. Using the 3.2 megapixel Carl Ziess optics and CMOS sensor the camera really shines. The camera comes with built-in flash, 20x digital zoom, macro mode, plenty of optional settings and a photo editor. Not only does it take real nice photos but the video recorder is also good. Allowing you to take videos at up to 15 fps and a choice of various formats but the phone also has an inward facing camera to make video calling possible.
Moving on to the all important music player. The music player on the Nokia N73 is on par with other Nokia Nseries phones. It supports all the common formats such as AAC, MP3, WMA and has a built in FM Radio too. All your songs will sound great using the included stereo headset or the built-in stereo loudspeakers. Internal memory is a respectable 42 megabytes which handles all your built in functions and there is a miniSD card slot so you can really load things up. To keep this all running is a very good battery indeed. The life on teh battery is surprisingly long for a 3G phone of this stature.
The complexity of the software that runs all these gadgets is quite high and as a result the phone can be sluggish at times and canze on you the odd time. There have been numerous complaints that the phone can crash orze just as a call is coming in which leaves many users frustrated. This will scare many users away from the N73 and on to other phones such as the Sony Ericsson K800i or Nokia 6300 which are more user friendly and don't crash as often. Nokia does seem to be combating the crashing bug and new firmware upgrades have been helping. This phone is worth the pick up since it has been made available for cheap on some plans and the issues withzing seem to be going away now.
