Description When the best gets better the Nokia 8800 becomes the 8880 Carbon Arte. Upgrades include a mixture of titanium, carbon fiber and polished glass to give its artistic look. It delivers all the gadgets you have come to expect featuring: a 3.2 megapixel camera, 3G, mp3 player and more. The Carbon Arte is the next level up for Nokia's 8800 Series range of phones. Based on the sleek and stylish 8800 Arte, the Carbon Arte takes it one step further. This unit is sold as a super exclusive phone made with the most exclusive materials and at a real exclusive price that is close to £1000.
A beautiful combination of carbon fibre, titanium, polished glass and stainless steel make this a premium luxury phone. This phone is just pure sexy. The way this phone opens and closes, the way its constructed and everything about it just speaks volumes about its high end class.
Its pretty much the same in terms of size, weight and shape but that is very the similarity ends. The colors and themes on this phone have been specially made by Nokia just for it. The esteemed multimedia designer Fritz Fitzke was in charge of the design and the ringtones were also specially produced by Kruder & Dorfmeister. There are some very cool features copied over from the 8800 Arte such as the tapping of the phone to see the time or turning the phone upside down to reject that call you just don't want.
In previous versions of the 8800 Series there has always been talk that the phones are all flash and no power. When you are buying one of the most exclusive phones on the market then you expect to perform like one of the best and that is finally the case with the Carbon Arte. The Nokia team gave this baby an amazing display that is probably as good as it gets out there. An OLED panel with great graphics and a massive 16 million colors at 320 x 240 pixel resolution. Talk about impressive. Another upgrade over previous versions is the memory space of the Arte. Moving up from 1Gb to 4GB but still lacks a memory card slot, there really is no need for the slot but it does come in handy sometimes. The music player is everything you would expect from a phone like this and even comes with a Bluetooth headset in the box. If there was something to complain about then the camera is where to point the finger. With only 3.2 megapixels and no flash its definitely not the best in its class. There is also no radio once again and no 3G video calling. These features especially the camera are a little lackluster for a £1000
In summary although this phone doesn't have all the latest tech features or a great camera it is still one really high end phone that just screams out luxury and exclusivity. Its a great phone for the IT crowd.
