The phone features a MP3 Player,3 megapixel camera and connects to the 3G network. This camera is not built for the tech crowd or heavy user but a hot phone for those who can afford it.
The Nokia 8800 Arte is Nokia's newest in its high end phone line. Taking the lead from the 8800, 8800 Sirocco and 8600 Luna,this phone is not for those on a budget since the price of these phones sits near the £800-£1000 which is double of its predecessors. With the escalating price of these phones you can tell that there won't be that many of these phones out there. The price separation between ultra-high end is just not that big to make it worth while.
There are two versions of the 8800 Arte, The standard version comes in a sleek black metal and glass with anti-figure print film on it so that it always looks its best. The other "Sapphire" version of the phone is pretty average looking with a shoddy gray or green color.
Under the hood the phone has all of the bells and whistles you would expect. It connects to the 3G network so you can get your emails and surf the web in high speed. It comes with a good 3.2 megapixel camera and music player. The camera has auto-focus but no flash tho. The display is high quality . The one feature gone this from this phone is a radio but I don't think anyone listened to that either. It comes with a decent 1GB of built-in memory but no add-on memory slots so you better pack only what you need.
The phone is a bit on the heavy end with a weight of 150g but it fits in your hand real nice so its a toss up. Its not one of the slimmest of smallest phone but I don't think that was ever in the plans.
When you get your phone package at the store you get some extra features such as a desktop charger, Bluetooth headset and a nice carrying pouch. It's all real nice but not that nice when you remember how much you paid for it.
All in all its a real nice and sleek phone that is designed for those who would rather have art and fashion over usability and features. The Arte 8800 comes with what you need to look good and nothing more, but I think that's exactly what the folks at Nokia wanted to create.
