Description

The Nokia 2690 is a candy bar phone with a simple, slender design and plenty to offer the user. It’s on the low end of the market and it’s ideal for users with simple needs that still want something special and interesting with their mobile phone purchase. You can buy the phone for less than $100 without paying for a subscription, which is a remarkable thing. Most phones of this type require a two year subscription to a service to get a deal like that.

The 1.8 inch TFT screen supports 262k colors and provides a 128x160 pixel resolution. This is not a phone for watching movies, obviously. It’s one of the worst things about the phone, in fact. The camera takes pictures at 640x480 and again that’s not terribly high quality. It’s pretty basic stuff and will not provide shots for your photo albums. The onboard memory is rather small so if you plan on taking lots of pictures you’ll have to invest in a microSD card. The phone runs on the Series 40 5th Edition platform and it features an easy-to-use menu system that makes browsing to any feature a breeze.

The Nokia 2690 features Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support and microUSB connectivity. If you have a microUSB cable you can hook it up to your computer. The phone accepts text messages, MMS and most emails. You can input your POP3, SMTP and IMAP4 information to check your email from the phone. The processor is fast and so the phone runs just about everything quickly, making it a breeze to get to your stuff. There’s only 25mb of internal memory so if you’re doing more than storing phone numbers you’ll have to expand that with an SD card. You can listen to MP3s on the Nokia 2690 and they sound pretty good. It’s not a high quality device but it gets the job done in a pinch.
