The Nokia 1280 is one of the cheapest phones on the market at just $30. It’s about as basic as it can get so don’t be surprised that you get what you pay for. The phone features a monochrome display (that’s black and white), a 96x68 pixels resolution, GSM-only connectivity, a flashlight, alarm, calendar, MP3 ringtones, FM radio and a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can listen to your FM radio without having to use the terrible speaker they provide.

It’s a cute little thing and it looks like it was in fashion a decade ago when cell phones were still coming into their modern incarnations. The keys are large and tactile and punching in numbers or sending text messages is easy because of that. It’s quite compact and slides into your pocket with ease. There are color covers you can use to personalize your phone and make it individual to you. You can listen to the radio with ease as the tuner works perfectly. The headphone jack is something a lot of phones with FM tuners are missing so it’s nice to see it in such a budget model.

You can send text messages with ease and keep up to 250 of them stored in the phone. A double click on just one key brings up the flashlight in case you find yourself in the dark in need of a little light. The alarm clock will wake you on time with a number of chimes to choose from. The battery lasts a fairly long time because there isn’t much on the phone to draw power and charging is quick. The integrated speakerphone is terrific too. The Nokia 1280 is a bargain priced phone and comes with none of the features that people are used to these days. This is for beginners or for those looking just to make calls and send a few text messages. It gets those things done very well though.
