Description
While Motorola certainly produces some amazing phones the A835 is not one of them. They seem to produce some really clunky low feature phones that just leave you scratching your head. The A835 is the replacement phone for the A830 but that certainly doesn't make it much better.
The mobile phone is certainly an upgrade over the A830 as they have somewhat addressed the previous issues. The odd detachable camera is gone and a slightly better quality integrated one is in. The camera doesn't take any better pictures but at least you wont lose it the first day either. The camera doesn't have a flash of course but it can take video and and this time around there is video calling on the 3G network. Its nice to seem the address the issue but they should have really addressed them properly.
The actual phone is classic in shape but somehow its still odd and clunky just like its predecessor. The phone looks like its made of cheap plastic but the screen is actually quite bright and a much improved 65,000 colors of high quality resolution. The phone has added haptics which is a visual and vibrating effects that let you navigate with more ease.
This time around they actually give you some workable memory space in the A835 with 64Mb of internal memory so you can actually store some music to listen to as well as your important files. The music player is once again adequate and plays most common music formats. It has a whole slew of Java programs and games to keep you entertained when you are bored and being a 3G phone is what really saves this unit in the end.
The 3G connection is what started this series of mobile phone in the first place. With the highspeed broadband connection you can surf the Internet and access all your email and with that extra memory you can store all your attachments right on the phone too. The nice thing about the email feature is the ability to access those POP3 email accounts. Writing messages is quite quick and easy with the iTap predictive text input.
Again this would not be a first or second choice for anybody but it could be worse than this. And with the increased battery life it helps this phone along. Look at all other options before taking a look at this one.
