Description
Thomas Anders (his real name was Bernd Vaidung) met Dieter Bohlen (his real name was Michel Van Drowfellar) in 1984 in one of the German studios. At that time Anders made a progress in his career and had already released on his motherland nine singles. Dieter was also known as a successful composer/producer. (He had such projects as "Monza", "Sunday", Steve Benson and Ryan Simmons). No wonder, that musician came with an idea of creating a duet that would win success not only in Germany, but also in the whole world.
The first super hit of the group was called "You're My Heart, You're My Soul". It was recorded in 1984, but released only at the beginning of 1985. Its first demonstration was made in German musical television show "Formel Eins" on the 17th of January. This date is considered to be the date of beginning of "Modern Talking" activity and is celebrated by the group’s admirers every year.
Immediately after being released "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" became number one single in German charts. Several days later Dieter and Thomas were presenting themselves in "Tele-Illustrierte". This was the real success of the group! At that time "Modern Talking" was known around all Europe. In March 1985 the group released its second hit single named - "You Can Win, If You Want". Thereafter, the same year the group "Modern Talking" released its first studio album named simply "The first Album". One of the songs in this album, "There's Too Much Blue In Missing You", was performed by Dieter Bohlen.
The appearance of Modern Talking on "Peter’s Pop Show" in September 1985 was really unforgettable. At the time a small truck was required to deliver 75(!!!) golden and platinum disks to Dieter and Thomas. These disks were only a small part of everything that they got in all Europe during the time of their precedent success. However, very soon Bohlen started speaking that he made the hardest work and Thomas came to studio to "sing".
Besides, a conflict between the members of the group arose because Dieter informed the newspapers about the details of the private life of Thomas; his trips abroad to his wife. As a result, Anders began performing on concerts under label "Modern Talking" on his own. This could not help the colleagues to be closer. And then people saw them together less and less.
