Description

Missy Elliott grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia and started writing songs in youth. By the middle of 90s she became one of the famous persons in hip-hop. At the beginning Missy was a member of R&B group called "Sista". Then she was notice by Devante from Jodeci team. After failure in making her solo career she decided to become a producer and thereafter she became so popular. Missy Elliot was the author of song of such performers as Aaliyah ("4 Page Letter"), Jodeci, Genuwine, 702 and SWV ("Can We").

In July 1997 Missy Elliott released her first solo album "Supa Dupa Fly". This album was created in participation with Busta Rhymes, Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Da Brat and her friend and co-worker Timbaland. Authoritative magazine "Rolling Stone" wrote about her:" When Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott joined hip-hop and R&B she found a new inspiration in this alliance.

The first single of album "The rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" was the first single that got onto the air of TV and radio. In her interview to MTV Missy said:" The radio became boring and everything sound similar. Video clips also look the same. We wanted to enter this world and change everything radically"

On the same month the second single of the album "Sock it 2 Me" that was created with participation of Da Brat was released. In September 1997 "Supa Dupa Fly" album became platinum. In May 1998 Missy participated in recording of soundtrack named "Can’t hardly wait" in which she performed a remix to "Hit ‘Em Wit Da Hee". In July she and Lilith Fair left for tour and together with Nicole she released her new hit "Make It Hot". In November Missy appeared in the album of Whitney Houston "My Love Is Your Love"
