Jennifer Garner Jennifer Garner was born on the 17th of April 1972 in Houston, Texas, USA. There were two more girls in the family – older sister Melissa and younger sister Susanna. When Jennifer was 3 years old her father Bill received the position of chemistry engineer in another state and all family members had to move to Charleston, Virginia. Despite the fact that Charleston was the capital of the state, this city with the population of ten of thousands people couldn’t be called the centre of the Universe.

Jennifer’s felicity for creative work was found when she won in the talents contest. However, the girl constantly felt herself being in the shadow of her elder sister Melissa. Melissa was the head of her class, excelled in mathematics, played the piano and was very popular among her counterparts. Although all three sisters learned to play the piano and engaged in ballet, Jennifer strived to stand out and be better than Melissa and Susanna. When Jennifer studied in senior classes she was the member of the swimming team and learned to play the saxophone. Dancing was her forte. When Melissa neglected dance studies, Jennifer, to the contrary, began engaging in dancing actively. This was a chance for Jennifer to overcome her sister at least at this field.

As the actress recalls, when she was a teenager, she was a touchy person. She wore thick eye-glasses, worked in the shop selling men clothing, didn’t drink alcoholic beverages and take drugs. In her family it was prohibited for girls to use cosmetics, paint nails and pierce ears.

Several years before finishing school Garner had entered school summer theater. However she did auxiliary work there. She helped to build decorations, sold tickets and made costumes. At first she didn’t think about playing on the stage. Since her childhood she was sure that she would follow her father in leading the career of scientist. However, her parents managed to see that the girl had a talent and made her participate in performances. Therefore no one was surprised that when Jennifer entered the University in Granville, she selected not the chemistry, but theater as her specialization.

After obtaining diploma in 1994, Jennifer wanted to continue studying actor skills in Yell. However, instead of doing this she moved to New York, where a friend of hers helped her to find her first roles in theater. She managed to obtain the role in Broadway performance named “A Month in the Country”. Jennifer received 150 dollars per week at that time. But not this small earning, but obtaining invaluable experience was her goal at that time. Like many actors on their first stage of their career Jennifer earned additionally as a waiter in one of the local restaurants.

Always striving for bigger, Garner began to visit castings for television and cinema. She managed to obtain the role in the film “Zoya”, basing on the Daniel Still’s novel. The story tells about the story of Zoya Osipova, a Russian girl, which moved to France, where she succeeded in ballet performance. Jennifer played the daughter of the main heroine.

Jennifer played in such series as “Swift Justice, Law and Order and Spin City”, “Harvest of Fire”. She also played in “Rose Hill”, “Deconstructing Harry”, “Washington Square” and “Mr. Magoo”.

After playing a minor role in “In Harm’s Way” Jennifer returned to television, where she played in series “Significant other”. At first it was planned that this would be a long-playing project, however, the series was closed very fast.

In 1998 Jennifer had a love affair with Scott Foully, an actor playing one of the major roles in “Felicity” series. In this series Jennifer played episodic role and appeared in several episodes as an ex-girl friend of the hero played by Foully. The wedding of Jennifer and Scott took part in October 2000. In four years Garner and Foudy divorced.
