Description "Iron Maiden" band was founded in London in 1976 by Steve Harris (born 12 March 1957, London, England; bass), a former member of rocker pub "Smiler". The band was named in the name of medieval torture facility, the band performed respective hard and hard to perceive music. The band played in the so-called "New Wave of British Heavy Metal" (a.k.a. N.W.O.B.M.) style. "Iron Maiden" became one of the advanced bands in this genre and many other bands repeated after them.
Single "Running Free" reached 34th position in British charts and favored to the appearance of the group on television in "Top Of The Pops". The band became the first band that was playing alive in this show since the times of "The who" in 1973. The album "Iron Maiden" reached the fourth position in the British charts. After releasing "Killers" the band changed Dennis Stratton by the guitar player Adrian Smith (born 27 February 1957). The release of "Number Of The Beast" turned critical in the development of the band.
Without releasing this album "Iron Maiden" would never reached such a success on heavy metal stage. The band was captured by the way of crazy popularity. This was also the debut of a new vocalist Bruce Dickinson (born 7 August 1958, Worksop, England.). He changed Paul Di'Anno that moved to "Killers". A lively debut performance of Dickinson with "Iron Maiden" took place on the 15th of November 1981. Singles "Run To The Hills" and "The Number of The Beast" became great hits in England and stayed in charts of that place for quite a long time. Album "Piece of Mind" continued the success of the band and took the third line in Britain and the 14th line in USA.
"Piece Of Mind" was different from the previous album in that it used a strong guitar play of Murray and Smith, together with unforgettable vocal. After releasing another couple of hit singles "Flight Of Icarus" and "The Trooper", the band organized two powerful tours. After the band had released "Powerslave" in November 1984, several critics accused "Iron Maiden" of repeating itself and of playing with tested and checked ideas. Of course, there were almost no substantial difference between its two previous albums and the given one. However, this album was also very popular among the band's admirers and was sold well.
