The group was formed in 1991 in USA.

"Never run in socks when it is rainy", Billie Joe Armstrong. Hurrah, again about punks. However, Antony Kidis (Chilly pepper vocalist) once said that Green Day is not a punk, but a nice band that plays retro in the style of hippy 60s. At that time Kidis didn't say anything about himself. Can we believe to Kidis? I guess you should, because recently a young pale American journalist Brian Warner after interviewing him thought: "Oh, my God, he is so stupid!" and instantly became Marylin Manson to castigate and unmask the people like him.

As we see, we would not have Manson without Kidis. (The question about the stupidity is rather disputable.) Hence, his words play some role. Therefore, we will agree that Kidis is not stupid and GREEN DAY, is not the thing it seems to be. The following list of facts will help to know much about these matters.

The story began in California. California from one side seems to be the Promised Land, on which different cultures necessary to humankind grow. California made the world happy by producing hippy ulcer. Several decades later, when the English punk became very bourgeois and moved to highly artistic spheres, California gave birth to the phenomenon of so-called "Californian punk". Although it is unauthentic all of its great inventions are international.

GREEN DAY met cool dawn in the middle of this disgrace. The morning was unkind. The sun was unkindly. Around one could see only the forgotten and curved mugs. All they could do was fence by howling spitefully and playing the guitar. Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt still were children and they were only a little older than 14th year old. They could not yet buy strong drinks. Adults took the matches from them and made them learn by heart the lyrics of American poets.
