Eminem (Marshall Bruce Mathers III) was born on the 17th of October 1973 in a small city of Sent-Joseph not far from Kansas City. The childhood of future star of rap passed in wandering along different states till he and his mother settled down in Detroit. When he was in school Marshall started dealing in rap music. After dropping his studies in the ninth class, he started reading rap in such groups as "Basement Productions", "New Jacks", "D12" ? "Soul Intent". In 1996 he releases his first album called "Infinite", recorded in a small label FBT Productions. Being released his album is being compared with such leading rappers as Nas and Jay Z. The next year Eminem released a biting and mocking album "The Slim Shady EP", called in honour of "black underground" rapper. His eminent track "Just Don't Give A Fuck" became very popular in underground groups. After listening to the songs sung by Eminem, his mother was horrified and brought an action against her son for incorrect comments to her address, made in album "The Slim Shady LP". She requires that the rapper gives her 10 million dollars as a compensation for moral damage. The scandal however didn't affect the sales of his second album "The Marshall Mathers LP" that was debuted on the first place of American hit parade in May 2000. On the first week about two million of copies of this album were sold in the USA. This made Eminem the most successful rapper since the time of Snoop Dogg's and Tupak Shakur.
As his previous album, the new disk caused conflicting reactions: some people criticized the rapper for rather aggressive lyrics, others, on the contrary, praised Eminem to the skies and proclaim him the most eminent white rapper. The songs "The Real Slim Shady", "Stan", "The Way I Am" of new album became big hits.
In June Eminem made a fight in "Hot Rocks Cafe" bar in Detroit. He threatened one of the visitors, who adhered to his wife Kimberly, with a gun. By the end of the year 2000 the hardship in his private life and serious charging remove the gloss of the ideal picture of commercial success. Despite of critics on part of the societies fighting for the rights of sexual minorities, in February Eminem receives three "Grammy" awards at once. On the ceremony he performed the song "Stan" together with Elton John, who accompanied the rapper on royal. Eminem also united with old colleagues from "D12" to record "Devil's Night". Together with them in summer 2001 Eminem went on a tour. After the end of the tour he started shooting in a film "8 mile"
