While the Windows Marketplace is virtually identical to the Andriod Market there seems to be some gems that will help the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform. WM6.5 was originally thought of as a filler until the much hyped Windows Mobile 7 came out but with so many high end developers jumping on board it figures to be a smash hit. EA, Netflix, Pandora, Facebook, Sling Media, Gameloft, AccuWeather.com amongst others are set to launch their app on the new marketplace. Microsoft has helped itself along by not charging developers to list their apps and gives them a 70% revenue share for all apps sold.

With Microsoft launching its new mobile app online store it is also getting ready to let developers submit their software to the revenue sharing venture. Microsoft is set to charge a $99 registration fee and $99 per application submitted to the online store and it will give those programmers an additional 7 day grace period to offer updates or patchesof charge. After the 7 days developers will gave to reapply and pay again. This is bad news for developers but good news for consumers as this should lead to less buggy software and higher quality apps. For a limited time to promote the new marketplace Microsoft will include 5app submittions with its $99 registration.

It seems that there are photos of the new Windows Mobile 7 circulating around the Internet. Its not yet known if they are the real deal or just elaborate fakes. The thing with the programming of any new software is that the graphical user interface is usually done last. That means that all the pretty navigation and icon design is the last thing to come. It would seem odd that this a real version of Windows Mobile 7 since the actual release date is still a year away. It could be some conceptual art done to keep the team focused but its still nice to think about which directions Microsoft is heading down the road. Take a look and decide for yourself.

Microsoft is trying to do everything it can to make sure that Windows Mobile 6.5 is as good as it can be before it launches the new operating system. There were complaints that the UI was a bit too gimmicky and not up to par for such a software giant. WM 6.5 was set to launch with a bad looking honeycomb design in the main screen of the mobile interface. It seems that the public did not like it much and Microsoft has now scrapped it and gone with a more standard layout that focuses on the icons.

With Windows announcing Mobile 6.5 and My Phone last month they are set to launch a new marketplace to support them. Not much is known about the new Windows Mobile Marketplace but we do know all Mobile 6.5 cell phones will be able to access it and it is assumed that 6.1 will also get some access. The new website is obviously being catered towards mobile phone access and just doesn’t look all that great on PC browsers. Originally slated for release with Windows Mobile 7.0 but they have sped up the release and it is now being launched with Mobile 6.5. This is definitely something to keep your eye on.

If you can’t live with out your facebook 24/7 then you are in luck. The latest Facebook app for Windows Mobile 6.5 is out and its ready to rock. It’s still an early beta version so its not without its short coming but early indictarors have it looking smooth. It seems to work with all current versions of Windows Media and lets you run your facebook profile pretty much like if you were on your PC. You are able to update your profile, comment and even poke your friends on the facebook app so you will never be without your Facebook friends again.
