The much awaited Microsoft Marketplace for Mobile developers is now online. We talked earlier about all the fun fees that Microsoft will charge application developers that want to sell on the new Microsoft store. Developers can now logon and wade through all the pages of rules and regulations. Get that credit card ready to pay all the fees that you will have to pay to submit your app. Microsoft will be testing all submitted apps quite rigorously for memory leaks and to make sure they work with virtual keyboards. Apps will be available to the public with the launch of Windows Mobile 6.5.

In a recent interview with Giga-OM about geolocation systems the Skyhook founder and CEO Ted Morgan all but confirmed that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 will be running Windows Mobile. Morgan goes on to say that he knows his company has lost deals due tosoftware offerings. He continued to say that the X2 edition of Sony Experia which is Windows Mobile based uses geolocation data from Google. This slip up has cause quite a stir since that information had not yet been made public.

You can mark May 11th on your technology calendar for two good reasons. First it will be the opening day for the TechEd conference in Los Angeles but more importantly it will be the launch date of Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. The news was made public by Microsoft using their Windows Mobile Team Blog. The launch will be held at 2:15pm PDT by Stephanie Ferguson, the General Manager of Business Experiences at Microsoft. Google just keeps launching newer and better things. This time they have upgraded their Google Maps application for Windows Mobile. The latest release is version 3.0.1 and it is available for both the Professional and Standard versions of Windows Mobile. Don’t get too excited though as now new features have been added only a few bugs have been fixed especially on the Google Latitude feature. The new Latitude fix now allows updating your location while the app runs in the background. This new fix is sure to save your precious battery life.
