Nokia is getting amped up to launch its application store. Plans laid out during the Forum Nokia Code Camp in Jakarta have Nokia set to launch their Ovi store in May. There are still some glitches to be worked out as they work out a payment plan with their carriers i world wide. It seems that Nokia wants to allow carriers to just add the cost of applications to the users cell phone bill while it has been shown that users want thedom to pay using their credit cards on the spot. These seem to be big issues but ultimately ones that can be resolved quickly and in time for their May opening.

Rogers Canada and Nokia just made a special announcement that it is releasing a white E71 to its Canadian market. This will be the slimmest of all mobile phones available from the Canadian cell phone company. The E71 will be available for only $99 when users sign a 3 year cell phone plan and the phone will offer high speed Internet, a 3.2 megapixel camera and up to 8GB of memory. The stylish white color of the E71 should match those cold Canadian winters nicely.

Seems that mobile phone giant Nokia is feeling the pressures of the weak world economy. They are set to layoff some 1700 of their 128,000 worldwide employees. The company has reported a profit drop of 69% in the fourth quarter of 2008 and needs to trim down jobs to cut internal expenses. Corporate shares for the Helsinki, Finland company have fallen 3.8% since the announcement of job cuts and dropping profits.

Finally Nokia fixes the 5800 XpressMusic and its ready to hit the store shelves once again. They seem to have fixed the issues that plagued this amazing phone. The word from Nokia is that the issue was with configuration within the 5800 XpressMusic and it had issues connecting to the 3G network. Finally they sorted that out and you can now contact Nokia and get your phone switched out to resume you regular downloading of cell phone ringtones and wallpapers. This is certainly good news from the folks at Nokia.
