Messages left by people in Twitter or Facebook are frequently used by police to inquire offence. The latter can use these services to give evidence of ties between various persons.
There are multiple examples of using the above-mentioned social services by police. Sometimes the messages left in Facebook or Twitter can assist the person or, on the contrary, aggravate the situation. For instance, gangster Jared left a message in MySpace in which he said good bye to his friends. This message was posted right before the offence and was taken by prosecutors as a proof against him.
A boy who was accused of theft in Brooklyn was acquitted after the prosecutors saw his message in Facebook. The message sent by him at the moment, when the robbery took place, said that the boy has had a snack in Manhattan with his father.
Twitter, Facebook and those sorts of things are also used by insurers to find out if the person deceives them or not. Therefore, you should be careful about the way you behave when you go online.
