Japanese University gives iPhones to students

What could be dubbed as the coolest university in the world, Tokyo-based Aoyama Gakuin Univeristy’s School of Social Informatics has given each of the students a new iPhone loaded with a few custom built apps. The apps make it possible for the school to track the attendance record of each of their students and students can download all past lectures given by their professors. The iPhone trial is set to complete at the end of the year and a review will be done to see how effective it is at aiding students and locking down on cheating.

Apple says no to Nine Inch Nails

Trent Reznor was recently all over Twitter complaining that Apple has rejected the latest update to their NIN iPhone app. The new update features content from their “Downward Spiral” Album that was highly successful. Trent Reznor tweeted that “Apple rejects the NIN iPhone update because it contains objectionable content. The objectionable content referenced is ‘The Downward Spiral. It is curious that this was rejected when other senseless and tasteless apps seem to pass the Apple sensors.



qTweeter for jailbroken iPhones

One of the coolest new apps going right now is only available for jail broken iPhones. The qTweeter app lets you update your Twitter status and your Facebook status all in one. You can update independently or both at the same time. The app is developed by Efiko Software the same company behind gems like iPhoneRingToneMaker and DialByPhoto. Efiko software has not yet been able to make the leap to non-jailbroken Apple products but it is looking to do so. It is available for on $4.99 on a trial offer.

SplashData releases two new apps on Apple Store

SplashPhoto and SplashNotes are two new applications available in the Apple App Store from SplashData. The applications work on both the iPhone and the iPod Touch and are available for $4.99 per download. SplashPhoto lets you manage photos on your mobile device and easily sync between your PC or Mac computer using wireless connections. It will manage your photos on the your computer and keep them synced between the mobile device, Flickr and Picasa. SplashNotes is a note taking and outlining application that also syncs with a personal computer. Both apps are available now.
