Apple will officially announce the iPhone 2009 today but until then here are some leaked and blurry photos of the new toy. As you can see in the blurriness the new iPhone will not have very many aesthetic changes to it. The biggest change may come from the secondary camera that is now installed for video calling and the phone may go under the name iPhone Video. There will also be 4 different memory options 8GB, 16GB and 32GB with a smaller and cheaper 4GB version coming out later. More on this after the official unveiling.

Finally the new Facebook is being launched for BlackBerry. We covered the Facebook 1.6 for BlackBerry not too long ago and that it would be available soon. Well the time has officially come for the release of the upgraded Facebook application. As stated in previous entries the new Facebook will let you view profiles and walls right from the app as well as commenting on your friends feeds and photos within the application. There is also more languages supported than ever before with the upgrade. Head on over to blackberry.com/facebook after 6pm EST to get the latest version.

During Computex a new reference design for a customizable MID was unveiled by teh Elektrobit Corporation. The new MID can support voice calling and is built on Intel and Ericsson technology bases. This unit really a piece of work that is built on the Intel Moorestown platform using a Intel Atom CPU inside. The project was built for PC makers and wireless providers that need a reference design that they can later on customize to suit their individual needs. The unit runs on a Linux interface that is fully Moblin complaint. The device has a host of features including voice, email, text, SMS, and email communications along with social networking and video.

Trying to get its products ahead of the market Sony Ericsson has announced that it will be adding Java Mobile to its entry level 3G mobile phones. Components like Java are what generally set high end models and lower end phones apart. Java allows for games and rich mobile applications amongst other mobile content. Sony Ericsson has made the move to include Java Mobile into its entry level 3G phones since 3G is the fastest growing market segment and Sony Ericsson would love a bigger piece of the pie. The company also announced it will move away from the M2 memory model to the cheaper SD format.

During their SID speech Sharp showed off a new type of LCD screen for cell phones. The new technology is called Memory LCD and Sharp says that will allow mobile phones to be much thinner and use less power. The new Memory LCD will only use 15 µW compared to 1mW that screens use today. The screen that Sharp unveiled was only 1.4mm thick and only needs a 5V power supply and 3-wire serial interface which is also a industry first. Sharp will make the 1.35-inch monochrome Square model available for use shortly and will work on different sizes and color screens.

If you are a blogger and use a BlackBerry here is some great news. Wordpress founder Matt Mulleneweg announced at the WordCamp San Francisco that they are getting ready to launch a Wordpress app for the BlackBerry much like the one that is available for iPhone. The app will mostly be a management app that lets you get behind the scenes of your blog and make sure it runs properly. Naturally you will be able to make posts and updates to your Wordpress blog with the app. There was no date associated with the announcement but likely sometime this year.
