Sanyo Zio M6000 features touchscreen, a 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS, 512MB of memory and a host of other features. Priced at $149.99 it also features the $55 all-inclusive Android service plan. It will be one of the most prestigious additions in its inventory.

It is expected that the devices running on Microsoft’s new windows phone 7 operating system will hit the market by holiday season of this year. PC world reported that AT&T will be the premier carrier for the new OS. AT&T however didn’t divulge any more information on this. Microsoft’s windows phone 7 partners in the U.S. include Verizon wireless, Sprint, T-mobile USA, and AT&T. And so far all except AT&T have remained silent on their plans regarding windows phone 7.

Sharp FX, the latest phone from Sidekick will now be sold by AT&T after its rival T-mobile pulled the plug on the line. AT&T said that FX has the famous horizontal layout of Sidekick with a slide open 3.0 inch touch screen display that reveals large QWERTY keyboard. Social networking applications like facebook and twitter are also bundled in. Customers can also subscribe to AT&T’s mobile TV. The device will have a 2.0 megapixel camera with camcorder, an MP3 player, high speed HSPA, Bluetooth. It will be available on July 25th.

Harbinger Capital announced plans to build a new high-speed 4G network to challenge the major carriers. The firm said its new venture will be called LightSquared and that the company will be spending $7billion to roll out 4G service in the first markets by mid 2011 and reach 92% of U.S population by 2015 with the help of 40,000 base stations. The new networks $G technolo0gy will be called Long-term Evolution, or LTE. LightSquared is also looking to partner with wireless carriers.

Verizon has said that it was in a second quarter loss as the company shrunk its traditional phone business and bought out some 11,000 employees. Verizon gained 1.4 million wireless subscribers but trailed behind AT&T’s 1.6 million in April-June quarter. Verizon attracted 665,000 subscribers under contract which fewer than in past few year but more than AT&T’s 496,000 in the quarter. Verizon said it lost 198 million dollars in April-June quarter due to buyout of 11,000 workers each of whom received a $50,000 one time bonus.

T-mobile has said that it has expanded its HSPA-plus service to 24 more cities thus expanding their network hence allowing them to keep pace with rivals Verizon and Sprint. The company has said that its HSPA service which is 3 to 5 times faster than 3G and boasts of average speeds of about 8 to 10 mb per second has been added to many new places on top of the 50 cities where it is currently offered. T-mobile plans to reach about 100 markets or 185 million people in the U.S. by the end of this year.

Apple’s i-Pad had indeed proved its supremacy, selling at one per minute in its first dates of release! However, Android may come to compete with this i-Pad again.
